It’s a week before the US election, and personally, I’ll be happy to stop getting the please donate messages and move on to the future — hopefully a peaceful one.

In honor of the Fall Season, here’s a verse from John Keats’ “To Autumn,” a poem that embodies both the fullness and the fleeting nature of creativity:

“Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too, —
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue.”

Keats reminds us that every season carries its own music, much like the creative process — sometimes slow and subtle, other times vibrant and consuming. Autumn, with its fading light and harvest imagery, reflects that bittersweet spot between productivity and rest, creativity and self-doubt.

Much like Keats’ ode, writing requires us to embrace the comings and goings. Will we take a respite from our creative muse or push forward, writing through the haze of doubt and elusive recognition?

As Keats suggests, every season — including autumn — has its song. Come listen to our verse as we gather our hearts and minds and write from our souls.
