It’s of import to note that in the US, informed consent has been exempted from the common rule (the regulation that protects human research subjects) in the case of health surveillance.

Since the overdose crisis was declared a national state of emergency, the experiment to force stable patients off of their analgesic medications while withholding it from acute care patients is ongoing with absolutely no regard for ethical norms, as this type of research was exempted from the regulation as of 2018 as an activity that does not fall under the definition of ‘research.’ Semantics.

It’s also of import to note that an extreme punitive environment has emerged in the wake of the CDC’s unscientific guideline and is driving the dangerous downward trend in the ethical practice of medicine and the enforcement of universal ethical norms in general.
