Zoey during one of her many playful moments

Throughout my life, pets have always been a part of my family. I love all animals, but during the past 26 years ,cats have been my constant companions. My love for cats grew because of my late daughter Jeannine’s influence. In 1995, she was given a grey, black and white cat whom she named Bootsy, by her best friend, for Christmas.

About 18 months later , Jeannine and I found a black and white cat, under a porch in a mobile home park, whom she named Angel. In 2014, we added a black cat named Zoey and a gray cat named Nitske both of whom we inherited from our oldest son Dan following his move to a residence that did not allow animals. Zoey and Nitske were 7 years old at the time of their arrival.

It took Zoey all of one day to get acclimated to her new surroundings. Part of that may have been because we had regularly cat sit for both Zoey and Nitske, when our son Dan needed to go out of town.

Bootsy, Angel and Nitske transitioned to Rainbow Bridge in 2016 and 2019, respectively, leaving Zoey as the last cat standing. Zoey joined her brother and sisters on Rainbow Bridge on July 2,2022 shortly after 1 pm. She was in her 15th year of life.
