Stress management hack — DIY for your future self!
A good tip to manage stress is to do things ahead of time for yourself.
A lot of times we tend to brush aside small tasks thinking that can be easily managed the next day. And while this seems like a good strategy, here are 2 ways how it can go wrong —
- A lot of small tasks pile up leaving you feeling overwhelmed when you do have to get to it.
- Imagine you suddenly get a bunch of tasks the next day and this one small task simply adds to the pile, leaving you feeling irritated and annoyed. With yourself!
Have to do your dishes but feel like it can be done tomorrow?
Nah, get them done now if you can so that it can be a small gift for your future self.
Just be aware that you are not pushing yourself too hard and trying to do too much. Remember to prioritize your tasks, and a great way of doing that is -
- Write down all the tasks you have to do.
- Write the expiration time for each task, aka, how long can you potentially push this task off to.
- Write down how important each task is, in the grand scheme of things.
- Bring it together, and you now have a list of tasks prioritized in a way that will help you figure out by when you need to finish the tasks!
