Why do recurring dreams happen?

Recurring dreams don’t always share the exact same landscape or characters. Whether they are positive or negative, the symbolism and your emotional reaction to the environments have similarities between them.

Two key meanings behind recurring dreams include:

  • Foreshadowing — They act as a warning for something your subconscious knows will happen, but you don’t consciously acknowledge (yet).
  • A wake-up call to action — they raise repressed feelings to the surface that have been denied for a while.

With the help of a dream dictionary, you can decode the symbolism. However, your own personal meanings could be unique based on your cultural or religious upbringing.
