When We’re Healing And Growing, Some People Will Think We’re Going Backwards
But we’re not. What seems like regression is really realignment
There comes a point in every healing journey where you start to feel like you’re doing the right things. You’re setting boundaries, saying “no” when you mean it, and walking away from things that drain you. You’re finally prioritizing your inner peace.
But then, something happens. You start to notice the looks, the comments, the concerned tones from others. They don’t understand why you’re pulling away, why you’re changing, why you’re letting go of things that, on the surface, seemed important.
To them, it looks like you’re going backwards. It looks like you’re retreating, regressing, maybe even failing.
At first, it feels like a slap in the face, a punch to the gut. You’ve worked so hard to get to this point, to start listening to your own voice, to make decisions that feel true to you. And now, all of a sudden, the people around you are questioning everything. They don’t see the struggle you’ve faced, the pain you’ve worked through. They don’t see that your actions are a reflection of growth, not failure. Instead, they see someone walking away from something they don’t fully understand.
