Breakfast Potatoes Desi Fusion!
Potatoes are one of the most consumed vegetables in the world. It is also very popular among all age groups. You would find potatoes as a part of breakfast in most cultures. Some make skillet-style potatoes, some bake it, roast it, fry it, etc.. Potatoes are easy to experiment with. They are cheaper too. Who am I kidding? Potato in every form is just soooooo good!!!!
Here I am sharing a traditional recipe, as I belong to Pakistan it has all the desi spices. This recipe is decades old; our forefathers use to make it too. Mostly we serve it on weekend brunches. It goes well with an omelet. Be it a plain omelet with just red chili and salt, or be it a vegetable-loaded one.
I have made a video too, which I am attaching; the narration is in Urdu, my mother tongue, but the recipe is clear.
Okay, enough about the description, let's diveeee into the recipe!!!!
Ingredients:
5–6 Medium potatoes sliced
1 tsp. Crushed Red Chili
1/2 tsp. Turmeric / Haldi Powder
Salt to taste
1 tsp Cumin/Zeera Seeds
1/2 Nigella/Kalonji seeds/ Black seeds
4–5 tsp Curry leaves
Oil 1/2 cup
Heat oil in a wok or nonstick pan.
Method:
Now put crushed red chili, cumin seeds, curry leaves, and kalonji leave it till they change color.
Meanwhile, you can peel and cut the potatoes or do it beforehand. Now put the sliced potatoes in this oil, add turmeric and salt, mix well so that each Potato slice is covered in it,
Cook on full flame for 2 mins. Cover and let it cook for 10 more minutes on low heat.
Garnish with fresh mint and coriander leaves!!
Note: Don’t mix it again and again.
Serve it on your weekend brunch with Parathas and Omelette; it a heavenly combination.
