Easy Way To Grill Fish For Your Meal

My grilled fish on top of condiment with shrimp and mashed potato

In my family, we eat a lot of fish, from breakfast to dinner. We usually catch it first around 6 am then grill it when we get home for breakfast. Back home, we have this quick way of grilling a fish; we call it bakar belanga, which means grilling a fish in a wok. So if you have a non-sticky frying pan and a stove filled with gas, you are halfway there.

And this is how I do my grilled fish:

a piece of fish (I often ask the fish seller to cut the fish either in half or into three pieces)

half of a lime

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tbs oil

To start with, I will give the fish a squashed lime and salt, then I turn on the stove to medium heat and place my frying pan. After a minute, I set the heat to low and put the oil in and spread it around the frying pan's surface. Then put the fish in, and this time I always put a lid. If you don’t have a lid, you can let it open or use it as the lid if you have another pot.

It is better when covered because all the heat goes to the fish. If you like to have a bit of burn, then 5 minutes on each side is enough.

While waiting for your fish, you can prepare the condiment too:

half of a quarter of an onion

half of tomato

a slice of lemon or lime

1/4 tsp salt

half chili (any choice you have)

3 stems of celery leaves (optional)

Dice the onion, tomato, chili, and celery into a little container. Then add salt and lemon juice and mix them well.

After your fish is done, you can place it either on top of your condiment or place the condiment on top of it or in any way you like to enjoy your fish.

And there you have it, a tasty grilled fish for your meal.
