Made in almost every home of an Indian family, it is the favorite of everyone.

Rice kheer is a one-pot traditional Indian sweet dessert made at festivals and celebrations. Though there are many kinds of kheer made in India, I feel the kheer made with rice is my favorite.

It is the most common sweet dessert made in my home. I know that if something good happens, or if mommy is in good mood then she will surely make kheer. My king of enjoyment is having a Katori full of kheer at the end of the meal. Kheer is also made with jaggery in the south Indian states, and that not just sounds but tastes heavenly.

The names kheer and payasam came into existence from the Sanskrit terms. It is a traditional rice pudding made on occasions in Indian homes. It can be made by using either sugar or jaggery.

What is kheer?

It is a traditional Indian rice pudding made with rice, milk, and sweetener. There are many ways in which you can make kheer. Instead of using rice in it, you can use vermicelli, sago, or even carrots. But among all of the above, rice kheer is a very popular traditional dish.

It is made by simmering in milk until it is cooked. Then it is flavored with cardamom powder and sweetened and later garnished with nuts and raisins.
