Pesto Bocconcini Pizza & Strawberry Nutella Dessert

Photos by: Cooking at Home

This pizza dough recipe makes two pizzas: Pesto Bocconcini pizza and a Strawberry Nutella pizza dessert. It takes 40 minutes to prepare and bake from scratch as it does not require rising time. If you don’t have time to make the pizza dough, you can always buy the dough at the bakery or grocery store and still enjoy this indulgent experience!

To make the pizza, I use two cast-iron skillet pans — a 10-inch and a 12-inch. The dough recipe that I make enough for both skillets. The larger pizza is the Pesto Bocconcini Pizza, while the smaller one is the Strawberry Nutella dessert. I recommend preheating the skillets for at least 20–25 minutes at 450°F before placing the dough in the pan. By elevating the oven heat, the pizza cooks faster and is more uniform.

Your dinner pizza ingredients include pesto sauce; you can use store-bought pesto sauce for added convenience or make your own and bocconcini cheese. What I love about the bocconcini cheese is that it is soft, mild, and rindless. It is also a healthier option than most other cheeses because it is lower in sodium and fat. If you buy a large bocconcini ball, cut them into ¼-inch slices if they are small ones, cut them in half, and spread them on top of the pizza.
