The Cool.: How does being from South Carolina influenced your music?

Dohnny: I would have to say that Carolina has influenced my music heavily. That soul that you hear, the tone in my voice, my style of presenting a feeling or an emotion….it’s all Carolina. it’s who I am as an artist but most importantly as a person.

The Cool.: When did you begin rapping?

Dohnny: 6th Grade, in my chorus class, I actually got kicked out of that class for rapping…lol good times!

The Cool.: What are your opinions on the current state of Hip Hop?

Dohnny: It’s different, I mean I’m the type of guy that understands that hip-hop will change with the times so it’s not the same type of hip-hop that a lot of people my age grew up on. At the same time there are very dope artists both in the industry and locally that are carrying the torch for hip-hop. The Hip-Hop culture in itself is something I’m always going to be in love with.

The Cool.: If you had to describe your music in 3 words… what would they be?

Dohnny: Relatable, Authentic, Original.

The Cool.: What’s next for Dohnny Cage?

Dohnny: Right now, I’m putting the pieces together for my next project “The Life & Times of Dohnny Cage vol. 2”, which is coming along pretty good and I may have a few other joints to drop collectively around about the end of September so be on the lookout for that.
