Money = Happiness or nah?

“What means the world to you
Cause money mean the world to me
I’m a shine for the world to see
Pearl the V twirl the key cock back kick
back and twirl the weed” — Kill Cam

Does money mean the world to you? Is it all you think about? Is it the thing that brings you the most joy?….

Some say money can’t buy happiness. I personally don’t agree with that quote. Money can buy happiness. Money can make people treat you better, spend more time with you and be more submissive with you, which in turn makes you feel happier. But money doesn’t last forever and just like how you’re up this month, you can be down the next. Money comes and goes and the “happiness” it provides does the same.

You see, money is tangible. It can be given and taken away in the matter of seconds. That’s why it’s important to cultivate real relationships. I recently interviewed the founders ofThe College of Hip Hop, they said something that stood out. “Someone can you give $1000 and you can go out and blow it today but if they sat you down and gave you $1000 worth of knowledge, you can apply that to your life and make $200,000 of that.” Love, knowledge and wisdom are what you should really strive for. Things that can’t be taken away as easily as money.

“Money is a strange business. People who haven’t got it aim it strongly. People who have are full of troubles.” -Aytron Senna

It’s important to ask yourself, what means the world to you because those very things will become your world. Those very things will consume you. Now if family, love, and success means the world to you then great I mean, who wouldn’t want to live in a world comprised of those things. But if money, the opinions of others and popularity means the world to you, you will find yourself loving in a world of greed, dissatisfaction and regret.

So again does Money = Happiness… Yep. Temporary happiness. Happiness that can be gone at any second. Yes, we need money to survive and I would go as far as saying that most people, including myself, love money. There’s a clear difference on how I wake up on a Friday that’s payday compared to a Friday that isn’t. But even with my love of money, it doesn’t mean the world to me. It’s not what I live for and it’s certainly not anything I’m prepared to die for. But family and love, now that’s something different. And for you, it doesn’t have to be those two things but it should be things won’t fade and make you a better person overall, not temporarily.
