There’s a New Business on Cherry Street
Hey guys! This week I’m going to keep it short and sweet. For the past few weeks I've been trying to put together a shop on Etsy to start selling some wall art designs I've been coming up with. Right now the selection is limited, but I’m anxious to get this thing up and rolling. I’ll give you a quick story as to why I decided to pursue this journey.
It was never in the plans to open up an Etsy shop by any means. Recently I did a drawing of Boba Fett for one of my nephews, and Brianna really encouraged me to maybe try and open up an Etsy shop to sell character drawings. After praying heavily and thinking about it, I decided to just go for it. The worst thing that could happen is that it could completely fail, but you’ll never know unless you try right?!
One of the big reasons why we’re doing Financial Peace University is to help find ways to achieve our goal of paying off my student loans as fast as possible. That’s not the main reason why I’m opening up the business, but it could potentially be a great way to hopefully make some extra money.
I’m on the verge of finishing up my degree as a digital design major, so I thought this would also be a great way to experiment and see how things go. I've always thought the idea of running my own business would be pretty cool. Although challenging, I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes our family!
The designs currently offered have been hand-drawn by me. That’s really the style I’m going for with the designs I produce. Some may feature splashes of typography, but my emphasis in everything I produce will resemble hand drawn items. I have yet to really see a market, especially on Etsy, of that style of artwork.
(Thanks again for the idea and support honey!)
Brianna and I are currently living in Arizona as you know, so a lot of my inspiration from the designs draws from the scenery of the Southwest. In addition to scenic designs, I also plan to add cartoon/movie character prints as well that would be great for your little one’s bedroom at home! After all, that’s where the business idea started.
We both are Christians and followers of Jesus Christ, so other designs offered will be inspired from our faith. That’s part of the reason why I chose to be a digital design major. God is the ultimate Creator and greatest artist to ever exist, so I think it’s pretty neat that we’re blessed with the opportunity to create ourselves and bring glory to Him.
What will be unique about Cherry Street Prints is that you won’t have to wait for anything to arrive to your house.
Wait…..what?
That’s right! All files are given to you on the spot, so all it takes is a simple download straight onto your computer. You can say “so long” to any type of shipping fee you’d normally have to pay. This makes things highly convenient for you the shopper. You get to pick out the frame you want, and included are a variety of different sizes of the image to help better tailor your needs.
With that being said, I hope to see you guys active over at Cherry Street Prints! If you have any questions about anything, feel free to contact me on Medium or through email. There should be an email icon on the homepage of our publication that you can click and be redirected to your email.
