A song for Alisha

Way back yonder in my days of old,
When life was simple, and love was gold,
I came across her silhouette, as she passed me by,
Seemed like she was watched by all the sky.

Alisha (was her name), who lived high in a tower,
Knit flowers, baked cakes, late into the hour.
And day after day, hour after hour,
Boredom and loneliness took a toll, sat in her tower.

Alisha! Alisha! Who is she?
Strong, bold, quick, and quite witty,
Black belt, white belt, starry belt packed,
Could scare Oscar, and give him a whack.
Shy, caring and genuine, like no one else,
Thought of herself very ordinary, nonetheless.
Only if she knew, how extraordinary would sue,
For labelling herself ordinary of ordinary, so true.

Alisha! Alisha! Where you at?
Tea’s gone cold, night lost in your silhouette.
Sat there wondering, half believing,
Searching for those three words, that give life a meaning.
Like an explorer, so tired of leaving,
A long journey this, she’s got this feeling.

Alisha! Alisha! See those lights?
Shining bright, in a night full of blight.
Sun and moon set out to make you feel lonely,
No one wants to make you feel homely.
That is life, few days, more dark nights,
You’ve got to come through it, like a bright shining knight.
Don’t you worry, (about) the shades of autumn and grey,
Always followed by summer, full of colours, filled with hay.

Alisha! Alisha! It’s time to fight!
Swing down with an army, with the victor’s might.
Braid a rope (with your hair) full of hope, and let it down,
Imposter syndrome? Lady, you better knock it down!

Alisha! Alisha! I gotta go,
Climb the tower down, like a bird, must now elope.
Time for your prince to come, and sing to you,
I had a great time, sat there, listening to you.
Learn quick, stay upright, do good for others,
You’ve got the skills, don’t worry, everyone stutters.
And don’t you ever worry your pretty little mind,
People throw rocks only at things that shine.
I know you’ll do good, stay healthy, and keep kicking hard,
Life may be tough, but be patient, it will surely get you far.
