A smile, intriguing, enigmatic, static,
understated, parodied,
Famously studied
for over five hundred years.

What might she be thinking?

Time so fleeting but still we are captivated.

I feel emotional serenity at the hand of DaVinci
a peaceful calm, an appreciation for masterful engineering
of the shadings that give dimension and life to the visage of La Gioconda.

The artist captures the bucolic beauty
of winding paths behind her,
But even now, swirling processions
come to view her simplicity and elegance

with a single obsession of the facial expression in mind,
a testament to the enduring power and significance
of her mysterious smile.
