Thursday Poetry Prompt: Stairs

My Childhood stairs

Look at these stairs,
They have so many memories to share,
It had just four steps to climb,
To enter my house in no time.
My stairs had the view of our street,
I got the glimpse of people whom I never meet,
Amused by the honking of vehicles,
Along with the sight of hawkers unbelievable.
I placed my first step on these stairs,
Often fell down with baby tears,
Still crawled up without a scare,
Going up and down the stairs.
I sat with mom for long hours on the stairs,
Played dot to dot and made the squares,
Between anyone who would come to greet,
I would never miss a chance to cheat.
I spent time with my friends on these stairs
All joys and laughter we shared.

Look at these stairs,
About which I always care,
It may not be the perfect place to sleep,
But it has always been the perfect place to think deep.
Now once a year, I meet these stairs,
Get delighted when I see them stare,
With their looks, they make me aware,
Hi, it’s me “The Stairs,” whom you need to take care.
