Learning as a Practice

I learn a lot from my kids. Their very literal interpretation of language always provides me with a fresh perspective.

Whenever my five-year-old was struggling with something like doing a cartwheel, I used to say, “You’re just learning!” She would respond with, “Mommy, I knoooooow how to do this.” I would then dust off my keynote address on the importance of hard work and persistence, which was met with a few eye rolls. I soon realized her interpretation of “learning” was quite literal. She understood the mechanics of the activity, it was just that she needed practice.

I think this is such an important distinction. We read self-help and leadership books to learn the material, but if you don’t do anything with that information in practice, you’re not actually mastering the skill.

Two awesome humans are studying together on The Coven’s learning platform.

Being a leader is a practice. You have to choose to step into your authentic power everyday, despite the internal barriers, societal pressures, and time constraints. Prioritizing your practice in leadership then becomes ritualistic and second nature.

But I know what your team’s schedule looks like. Maybe they’ve got 10 minutes waiting in the school pick-up line or a quick second to heat up some leftovers in-between Zoom meetings. We’ve got a lot going on, and it’s rare that we get a moment to invest in ourselves and our teams.

One thing I know about busy humans like us is that we’re better together. This year, we’re here to help you navigate your team’s personal and professional growth with the introduction of Coven Cohorts! According to the LinkedIn 2022 Global Talent Trends Report, leadership development is the number one way to improve company culture. We see this coming true in organizations that have chosen Coven Cohorts like 3M, Jamf, and the University of Minnesota.

Our cohorts are led by trained facilitators to help your team navigate the tough stuff and step into their power. We’ll help them develop goals, set deadlines, and visualize their path to success alongside The Coven community.

In the last year, we’ve produced hundreds of hours of on demand videos to help your team level up their leadership. They’re short and digestible with actionable takeaways in every episode that make it easy to add learning (and practicing) to your intention list.

A mix of on demand and live events give your team the opportunity to learn on their own time and collaborate with other like-hearted leaders. Cohorts are rolling, so dive into one of them and start seeing results across your team. Together we can help your team grow from learning to practicing. Let’s do this.
