Today, some of the finest writing is done by screen writers who produce TV dramas and films for the enjoyment of audiences across the world. You probably have a favourite TV programme, film or web series that has, to some degree, influenced your writing. Why not write a scene in your novel which is an homage to your favourite piece of screen fiction.

If you’re a fan of the Good Wife, why not involve your character in a court case where they are represented by talented lawyers like Alicia and Cary. Or, if your’re a fan of Doctor Who or Sherlock, perhaps you could write a dream sequence where a charismatic figure helps your character to work out a problem that has been troubling them in their waking hours. You might even want to write a scene where your characters are watching a film or TV show – just think about how you react when you’re watch your favourite shows (Doctor Who fans – think back to Missy!).

Happy writing!
