Rüfüs Du Sol x Andhim

October brings with it an exciting and somewhat unexpected collaborative effort between German house duo, Andhim, and Australian alternative dance gang, Rüfüs Du Sol. Coming from their year-old album Bloom, Andhim have brought something fresh to their already unique sound with this dark, fragmented remix of Innerbloom.

The pair, made up of Simon Haehnel and Tobias Müller, typically proliferate a lively and upbeat sound, which they have coined “Super House,” with past releases that include Orient Express, How Many Times and their signature dish, Boy Boy Boy.

However, this year has seen an evolution in their production, with more innovative, deeper sounds that possess an air of maturity. Their Rollercoaster EP and subsequent remixes of Eating Snow’s The Emptiness Is Mine and Booka Shade’s Lost High demonstrate that Andhim have more to offer, and with this take on Innerbloom, they are showing off their musical versatility.

The original song is a slow builder; the soft vocal sits somewhere between James Blake and Half Moon Run. Haehnel and Müller lead us down a darker path this time, with a murky ensemble of off-beat bells that give way to the deep sirens that were so prolific in the original. Using the melancholy yet soulful vocals of Rüfüs lead-singer, Tyrone Lindqvist, the track is an artistic treasure that really stands out in this October’s releases.
