Our Favourite Books This Month for Creators to Read and Learn From
Reading is the most effective way to learn something & we encourage everyone at The Create Labs to read as much as they can. This month we read books from the categories design, architecture, advertising & branding.
Tip: Follow us on Instagram to get to know early of all these lovely reads as we share our favourites there during every week.
We can’t keep ourselves from sharing a compiled version of these books with you all. They’ve helped us expand our knowledge & we hope they do the same for you :)
1. The Art of Looking Sideways

Author: Alan Fletcher
In Fletcher’s own words- “This book is a cross between a collage & a box of goodies” and we can’t agree more.
The Art of Looking Sideways is the perfect guide to visual awareness. An interplay between word and image this book will leave you entertained and inspired. Even the non-readers have a hard time not looking at this wonderful compilation!
2. Hatch: The New Architectural Generation

Author: Kieran Long
This book puts light on the changing roles of architects in cities & talks about some of the most promising members of the industry.
It includes around 800 photographs & drawings from all the projects to give the readers a visual treat. Critically selected by the author, the work of these stars is presented in front of you to read, appreciate and take inspiration from. We had a wonderful time reading this one!
3. Hey Whipple Squeeze This: The Classic Guide to Creating Great Ads

Authors: Luke Sullivan & Edward Boches
The best part about this book is that Sullivan brilliantly combines a perfect amount of wit & insight in his writing. It’s a must read for anyone entering the agency world or wanting to understand advertising.
Its latest edition comes with insights & tricks for social media & digital marketing. Ex-Creative Director and Professor Edward Boches especially co-authored this part to make this book a complete package.
4. The Ad-Free Brand: Secrets to Building Successful Brands in a Digital World

Author: Chris Grams
Grams gets the struggle of everyone trying to set a name for their brand. In the book he shows how to invest every penny into meaningful relationships with the community & get productive results through it.
He further specifies that “Great twentieth century brands aren’t build by telling, they are build by being.” The book is full of real world case studies & even homework to help you learn the tactics to build a brand on a tight budget.
