An Endurance of Love

a poem of the love between a father and a son

flowers in the stream © Manan sheel (author)

A word old
that has endured
more than it could,
A word young
that too has endured
more than it was mature of.

The two words, they endure,
for they differ, for they love
The two words, say they part,
but unable to part, for they love

The shell of one endures
the freedom of the other,
The freedom of one endures
the shell of the other.
The understanding of one endures
the tears of the other,
The tears of one endures
the understanding of the other.

They endure and sometimes
are desperate, love and understanding
come at no small cost.

A few more years, and Behold! the two words
walk hand-in-hand in the garden of love,
blessed by the flowers, the father and the son,
their endurance is joy, it always was,
their endurance was joy…
