Proto-pitches and general progress

Here are our presentation slides in the Creative Founder class, which involved our updated MVP with the concept of an IoT water bottle that tracks student-athletes’ mental wellness, and communicates when they’re feeling stressed to their friends.

What was it like to put everything you’ve done together?

It was efficient to reach an agreement without too many debates. Expert interviews and dairy studies helped to validate our concept.

What areas of your business still need work?

  • The majority of existing IoT water bottles in the current marketing place use sensors to track users’ water intake and encourage users to drink more water to keep healthy.
  • We are different from them since we are thinking about how to use skin conductance response (SCR) to sense student-athletes’ emotional feelings based on sweat. We need more technical research on how sensors detect emotions.
  • We need more market research about how many people are using smart water bottles.
  • Also, more user research about whether our target users are willing for a “broadcast” emotional sharing.
  • How could we encourage male users to use a paired device with friends?

How did your idea for your business change? Why?

Since emotion detection sensor might too complicated with some technical issues, we shifted our initial ideas a little bit:

  • For standard users: a mobile App + a paired smartwatch App (which is used for data gathering)
  • For premium users: a mobile App + a paired smartwatch App + an IoT ban (which is color-coded to visualize the emotions)
  • Updated MVP: Dairy + Reflection (only with the mobile App)
