Remote = fun.

Clarifying, aligning, and merging

Following my realization that we need to find one direction and power it through, I recognized in our communication, we sometimes have different interpretations and thoughts even when we’re talking about the same subject. I suggested to write down the pieces of molecules that we all have — mainly problems and solutions. Writing down the concepts as statements forced ourselves to articulate any different ideas and directions we potentially have. When we looked at the board, I realized: this is why we need to focus!

Our whiteboard discussion.

I’m glad to see that the method worked — we started to admit the distance between “my thoughts” and “our direction,” and strived to bridge the gap by articulating better and asking each other to elaborate.

Believe in ourselves

Yes, we finally voted for one direction. It wasn’t easy, and it won’t be easy later- I’m sure all of us still have and will always have second thoughts. I believe in the value proposition of our product. I believe its business potential will be backed by the customers. (Yes, the acquisition experiments are still coming soon!) I also believe that the confidence of your product/work will show in the presentation/pitch.

When my teammates have other doubts or are not so confident, I feel the responsibility to understand their perspectives and help them clear up any confusion or concerns. How do I help them though? How far should I go? It’s another new opportunity for me to explore the approaches and find a workaround, hopefully.
