Reflection: Customer Acquisition
Customer Acquisition
This week, we were ready to try attracting users to our product for customer acquisition. My team focused on building the webpage elements and I focused on getting feedback on our landing pages. I went to find target users to ask them basic questions and then show them our landing page. Because our MVP idea was more robust, they all showed interest to use the product’s features. We received feedback on the landing page to make future iterations.
However, for the restaurant side, we had positive feedback on our product page but we did not receive subscriptions from restaurant owners this week. We interviewed a restaurant owner who was very successful had opening and someone whose been in business for 20 years. Interesting insights from the interviews was the new business owner focused on social media, improving the customer experience. Also for the other owner, they tried many different channels to improve their customer stream but had a difficult time competing with new restaurants.
At this point in our MVP, we focused on user development with features but we neglected what was important for the business owner. In our customer funnel, we gained promising results from users but not our from restaurant business model. We gained insight from our owners, so our plan is to develop a low-fi prototype of features on the landing page in hopes to attract interests. Our user base is well developed, so we are rushing the design for restaurant features to better attract interest for our restaurant funnel.
Teams Progress Evaluation
For our group, I feel like we have a solid foundation of positive results. Our ideas have been validated by our users every step of the way and we continue to refine our base as we grow. The part we are weakest at the moment is the restaurant side of our business, so we are spending time on it in the next few weeks to grow interests.
We met with last year’s creative founders and we asked them questions about their experience. Our group had some questions about feature testing and they told us about it’s best to test your features with people who already like your product. It was a nice idea to reach out to users that have already shown product interest, moving forward I will keep them as contacts.
What’s Next?
We are going to split into two teams, one side working on improving the features for the users and our team to focus on restaurant features. I have a goal to have restaurant owners subscribe to our landing page to show positive numbers in our customer funnel. We are going to start building some features based on feedback and what is existing in the market. We need to iterate fast so we can have that model catch up to our user model.
