Another Year Gone, Another Year Older

And what do we have to show for it?

Every year my handsome friend, in the prime of his life, spent New Year’s Eve mourning his lost love.

Not only that, he thought about all the people that he lost and how much older he was, and how life completely sucked.

What’s wrong with him, I thought.

He had everything going for him. Every woman wanted him and yet he sat around alone and depressed on New Year’s Eve. Everyone invited him to parties and what did he do?

He said no. He went home and shut his door. He spent the night feeling sad, and depressed. He felt like he failed in life.

While all his friends were smiling and toasting each other, he stayed home wallowing in melancholy. Thinking about the one who got away.

Someone who never even thought of him, and let go of him a long time ago.

Opportunities lost

New Year’s isn’t a happy event for a lot of people. Why? Because it’s another opportunity to trash ourselves for the things we haven’t done.

Another year has gone by and we still haven’t transferred all those VHS tapes to digital. We promise ourselves we’re going to do it every year but it just never happens.
