Why Stepping Out of your Comfort Zone is the Exact Thing You Need
Wait for the right moment

Not so long ago, I was living in a rut. I was working at a job where I was undervalued. Even though I had a college degree, I couldn’t seem to advance at work.
I watched as people around me were promoted, and I stayed still.
In my off time, I pursued my creative pursuits, but I was so exhausted after work. It was a enormous struggle just to get anything done that I wanted to get done.
Because when you are working a job that’s repetitive and dull, it’s exhausting.
I’d vent to others
Often I would tell people that my dream was to be a full-time writer someday. I wasn’t going to stay in a job working for someone else forever.
People would ask me to socialize after work, but I was too tired to do anything. Plus, I needed that time to write.
One woman grew frustrated because I wouldn’t socialize with her.
“ You always say you’re going to leave your job and move, but you never do, ” she mocked me, “ You’re all talk- no action. ”
Her words hurt me very much. But they made me realize who my true friends really were. They were the people that believed in me when everyone else had given up.
I waited for the right moment
So I went on for years, struggling every day, wondering if my life and my hopeless situation would ever change.
I was waiting for the right time to make my move, because in life- timing is everything.
I didn’t know how I was going to do it. I just knew I was going to someday.
When opportunity knocks, you must take that risk
After a personal tragedy, and the loss of someone I loved, a window opened for me to change my life.
People thought I would play it safe and stay where I was, but I knew differently.
I was ready to make a change, a huge change, which would mean leaving my old life behind completely.
