Who doesn’t want to be the token queer? Instant cool kid status…hellooo.

TWO

You have instant fashion and beauty street cred (thanks Fab 5!).

THREE

Uncomfortable conversations and awkward questions become the norm — FUN!

FOUR

Straight people are just funny to watch. Seriously, just watch them sometimes when they don’t realize you’re looking. OMG

FIVE

It is very rewarding to help friends recognize and own their privilege, and it is always appreciated.

That’s not an exhaustive list, just merely the tip of the iceberg. But as fulfilling as hanging out with your local cishet peeps may be, there are always at least three serious drawbacks to be considered, and you may find the emotional toll to be overwhelming.

“You’re gonna wear that top with those shoes? I can’t even rn.”

Their sister does hair, and they take it personally that you won’t switch stylists to support their family.

We can’t take them to a queer movie without hearing their hyper-analysis of the plot.
