With music easily made and readily shared by new artists every day, there are hundreds of high quality songs that fly under the radar. Every week, BEWARE Bowdon scours the web to weed out the dimes from the duds and share the wealth via BEWARE’s Block, a collection of eight buzzing tracks from artists currently breaking ground in their respective genres.

AL-X The Great Feat Atlas — “Rocketman” (Prod. By Lando!)

Records meant to be fun are always almost forced. That’s why my gut reacted immediately to “Rocketman” from AL-X The Great and Atlas. It’s not forced at all. Instead, this record feels like a lighthearted party in the booth. Nothing too heavy, just talented two friends with a good sense of humor using their undeniable flows to go on a joyride over high-powered production from Lando! and make some noise. Considering this one’s starting to gain steam, they’ve seemingly succeeded. However, I’m sure they were pleased with themselves after the very first demo.

LeftField Keele — “DEFINITION” Video

“Haven’t even started, how the fuck do I stop?” I don’t know who the hell Leftfield Keele is, but “DEFINITION” makes me want to find out. In his short but sweet new video, this shadowy figure uses an extremely sparse beat to show off his super flow and lyrical prowess. To provide context, The Toronto kid sounds somewhat like vintage Yelawolf and if that’s what he’s capable of over time, we might be in for a treat. The video speaks for itself.

Willy J Peso Feat. Royce Da 5'9 — “LIT” (Prod. By Jerry Parker)

Long time smokers familiar with Willy J Peso’s high life party bars will be impressed to hear the Detroit rapper get a bit more heavy on his latest single “LIT.” Featuring menacing production from Jerry Parker and a stupid sixteen from his idol Nickel Nine, Peso goes for broke and shows he’s far from some lazy stoner, offering high-powered raps about earning keep on his own and reaping the benefits as a result. If you need a kickstart, this is your battery.

Peter $un — “.American Spirit” Video

Peter $un has been one of my favorite undercover up and comers for a minute now, so of course his new video for “American Spirit” is getting burn. The clip is quite colorful and does a great job representing the warming vibes of the West VA rapper’s slow-burning single, while still letting his words convey their proper weight. Peter’s time is coming.

Kweku Collins — “The Outsiders”

Go ahead, melt away to “The Outsiders” from Kweku Collins. It’s OK. Don’t overthink pressing play or whether you want to spend time listening. Just do it. The Chicago native’s music feels passionate, loving, and welcoming. Who doesn’t want that? Sail away to the smooth vibes of Kweku and let him guide your day into the best place possible. Listen to Collins’ Nat Love project here.

STS Feat. NAC & Rayven Justice — “Playlist”

With such a unique voice and versatile skill set, STS should’ve should’ve been blowed up. Yet, the Philly rapper is still climbing uphill after over five years of posts and his latest single “Playlist” has way less burn than it should. Something is wrong here. Equipped with crooning from Rayven Justice and a booming, sensual concept, Suga Tongue Slim and his band NAC have delivered a surefire hit record that deserves exactly what the hook suggests. Furthermore, it’s not one-sided in any direction, offering a vibe that’s cool enough to get spins from damn near any demographic. Who’s making the Spotify playlists? Someone get them this record, stat.

LunchMoney Lewis Feat. Ty Dolla $ign — “H.O.E. (Heaven On Earth)”

When Ty Dolla $ign is featured on a song called “H.O.E.,” the content is presumed to be run of the mill, right? Don’t let the title of LunchMoney Lewis’ new single throw your off, because this is probably the sweetest record you’ll hear all day. Instead of something abraisive and club ready, Lewis has enlisted Ty Dolla’s hitmaking prowess to help take listeners to church, offering a track dedicated to the beautiful, caring women in their lives. This is the 100% complete opposite of “Paranoid” and everyone with a sense of class should be very pleased to share the positive vibes.

JSWISS & Temple5 — “I Wish”

2016 has been a messed up year, but “I Wish” from JSWISS and Temple5 looks to lighten the mood a bit. Jazzy at it’s core and masterfully produced all around, the comforting record finds this New York lyricist going against the odds to wish for things that benefit the masses, simply because no one else will. The record might not make the difference it hopes for, but hearing positive vibes being pushed through a rap record is nice for a change.
