George Michael was born Georgios kyriacos Panaylotou, in Bushey, Hertfordshire, England, on June 25, 1963, died on Christmas morning 2016 in Goring-on Thames, Oxfordshire, England. He was 53 years old.

Michael was an English singer, songwriter, music producer, an icon of popular culture, and a philanthropist. He always dreamed he would be a famous singer. His dream came true, but it came with a price.

The Wham! Years

George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley met in Bushey Meads School in Bushey. The two dreamed of becoming pop stars. They formed the band Wham!, and in the '80s and 90s, they were massive pop stars that ruled the pop charts. Wham! was the first western band to play in Beijing, China. They sold over thirty million records. In 1986, the group broke up. Michael knew the band had gone as far as it could go. He wanted to be a solo performer.

His first solo album was Faith, released in 1987, and it stayed number one for three months. It won album of the year in 1987 Grammy awards. The album sold over twenty million copies worldwide, and his concerts sell out, but personally, he’s suffering.

He's living with a secret. Michael was gay. He slowly came out to his parents and close friends. He was terrified this revelation…
