Janis Lyn Joplin was born on January 19, 1945, October 4, 1970, was one of the world's first female rock stars. She had an Epic stage presence, and she seduced the audience with her energy, passion, and heartache. But most of all, with her dynamic voice. She's considered one of the most talented singers and songwriters of all time.

The Queen of Rock and Roll was the oldest of three children, born to working-class parents Seth and Dorothy in Port Arthur, Texas, an oil-refining town that was a super conservative community. At a young age, she knew she didn't belong there.

Unfortunately, her life in Thomas Jefferson High school was not easy. Janis was overweight and had acne. She was isolated and bullied for her looks and being different. An outsider who never fit in. "They laughed me out of class, out of town out of the state." Janis Joplin. They called her a PIG.

Janis was always a wild spirit who refused to confirm. A badass who was a trailblazer in the Blues and Rock and Roll world. A gutsy singer, unlike the other female singers of her time.

Her music became her salvation.

At the University of Texas, a fraternity nominated her for the ugliest man on campus. She was devastated, and she never forgot it. Shortly after, she dropped out of college and moved to San Francisco…
