March 27, 1995, was a beautiful sunny morning in Milan, Italy. 46-year-old Maurizio Gucci, the former head of Gucci, didn’t know his assassin was following him when he walked into his office building on Via Palestro. He was shot four times, the one to the face was fatal. He died immediately. The doorman was shot twice, but he survived. The shooter got into a waiting car and was lost in the busy streets.

When the investigators arrived, they knew this was a professional killing and premeditated. At the time, they had no motive or suspects. Only a theory it might have been a mob hit. But they soon learned that Maurizio had his share of enemies, including his family members and his ex-wife. It was not a case of did he have enemies, but which enemy killed Gucci?

In 1921 Maurizio's grandfather, Guccio Gucci, started a small family store that sold leather luggage and accessories. Now Gucci is worth over four billion dollars. When Guccio died, his two sons, Rodolfo and Aldo, took over the family business known as the House of Gucci. The two brothers fought over everything. Things got worse when Rodolfo's only son Maurizio and Aldo's three sons, Paulo, Roberto, and Georgio, started working in the company. For decades the Gucci family fought bitterly about the company, and there were over twenty lawsuits filed…
