In Christchurch’s Port Hills, the two teens led Honorah into Victoria Park for an afternoon walk. When they felt they could not be seen by anyone, they began bludgeoning her with part of a brick they had wrapped inside of a stocking. Honorah succumbed after being struck over 20 times.

The girls immediately ran out of the park towards a local tea kiosk, screaming for help. The kiosk owners noticed that they were both covered in blood and Pauline told them her mother had hit her head after a bad fall.

The distraught teens were taken inside the kiosk by Agnes Ritchie, while her husband, Kenneth Ritchie, followed the walking path in the direction from where the girls had come from. As soon as he came upon Honorah’s lifeless body he knew immediately that she hadn’t died by accident and he called the police.

Michael Hernandez died in prison on the 29th of April, 2021 at the age of 31. He was serving a life sentence for killing his best friend, Jaime Gough when they were both just 14 years old. Hernandez decided that Jaime would be the first victim on his path to becoming a notorious serial killer.

Jaime was a good student with straight A’s. He loved to play the violin. Jorge Gough, Jaime’s father, says that he and his wife still frequently talk about their only son whom they lost on the 3rd of February in 2004. The day before Gough was murdered, Hernandez attempted to do the same thing to another close friend, Andre Martin. His intention was to kill them both, but fortunately, Martin did not fall for the trap.
