Sid Vicious was born Simon John Richie on May 10, 1957, in London, England. He was part of the Punk Rock scene that exploded in England in the 1970s. His mother was a single mom and drug user. Sid was edgy, rebellious, self-destructive, and had a massive drug addiction. But did he murder his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen?

In the late '70s, he joined the Sex Pistols as a bassist. He didn't get into the band because of his talent but because he had the right look and attitude. The Punk scene was about the frustration of the middle class and youth.

Nancy Laura Spungen was born in Philadelphia on February 27, 1956. Nancy, like Sid Vicious, was born a rebel. At 16, she ran away to New York and followed the Punk movement to London, England.

Sid and Nancy

Sid met Nancy Spungen, an American. The two became lovers and soon were inseparable. They both shared the love of punk music and getting high together. Unfortunately, their love story would end in tragedy.

The rumor was Nancy was a groupie, a prostitute, and had access to drugs. She was very bright but had mental and emotional issues throughout her short life. At 15, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. A lot of people who knew nancy didn't like her. She was strong and bold and didn't care what other people thought…
