Alexandra Zapp was born and raised in southwest Portland, Oregon. She loved Oregon. It was where she felt the most at home and at ease. Zapp continued her education at the University of Oregon. But, her college career was cut short when he accepted an editing job across the country in Boston, Massachusetts.

When she was in Boston, Zapp was involved in numerous charities that helped the underprivileged. She was just that kind of person who always put others before herself.

In another impulse decision, Zapp decided to move to Newport, Rhode Island to take a job with US Sailing. She was obsessed with everything to do with sailing and absolutely loved her job.

On the night of July 18, 2002, Zapp was on her way home to Newport from a charity event in Boston. Like on almost every single road trip, she had to stop to use the bathroom. So, she made the decision to pull into a rest stop on Massachusetts Route 24 in Bridgwater, Massachusetts around midnight. Little did she know that this decision to use the bathroom would lead to her death.

A nearby Burger King employee named Paul Leahy watched carefully and waited patiently as Zapp used the bathroom…
