Water is key to our survival. The people charged with taking care of the nation’s water supply are critically important to society, but what if one of them is a murderer?

Geetha Angara

Geetha Angara was a 43-year-old mother, wife, and chemist. She was a native of Chennai, India before immigrating to the United States. She was a well-educated woman with several master's degrees and had earned her doctorate in organic chemistry at New York University.

Geetha was employed by the Passaic Valley Water Commission in Totowa, New Jersey. She had been employed by the commission for twelve years and was recently promoted to the senior chemist. It was a job she took seriously. She was responsible for making sure that the drinking water for 800,000 residents of New Jersey was clean and safe.

However, Geetha wasn’t particularly happy at her job. She confided in her husband that the work environment had become hostile. It appears there were a few employees that were resentful of her promotion.

Other employees weren’t happy with the systematic changes taking place that Geetha was overseeing. The water commission had been using chlorine to treat the water for years. However, under Geetha’s watch, the plant was switching over…
