County Fairs are often an annual tradition for many families. It’s a place for children to enjoy games, win prizes, ride carnival rides, and eat corn dogs and cotton candy. It’s a time to be carefree and not have a worry in the world.
Jeremy Bright
Fourteen-year-old Jeremy Bright lived in Grants Pass, Oregon, with his mother, Diane Beatty, and nine-year-old his sister, S’te (pronounced Ess-tee). They had moved away from Myrtle Point, Oregon, just a short time earlier after Jeremy’s mom and stepfather had separated.
Jeremy had been having a difficult time with the separation and being away from his friends and family. He was a gifted basketball player and did well in school but had started to falter in his new town. So when Jeremy and S’te had the opportunity to go and visit his stepfather in Myrtle Point for a week, they took it.
August 14, 1986
On August 14, 1986, Jeremy, S’te, and his friend, Johnny, headed over to the Coos County Fair. It was an event they looked forward to and enjoyed every year. Jeremy left his keys…
