Most of us are raised to do the right thing. We are supposed to follow the law and help our fellow citizens to help ensure a polite and well-civilized society. However, sometimes being a good member of your community can get you killed.

Willie Sutton

Willie Sutton was a notorious bank robber in the 1940s and 1950s. He became famous for his method of robbing banks, which was with kindness and treating people with respect. He never hurt a soul in his quest for quick cash. He also became famous for breaking out of prison. He was one the prison system couldn’t keep locked up and he usually found a way to escape and continue his life of crime.

One such incident was when Willie and four associates robbed the New York Trust Company in New York on March 9, 1950, not long after one of his jailbreaks. The bandits managed to get away with $69,933. The police knew Willie was back on the job after interviewing bank employees and finding the bank robbers treated the employees and customers with kindness.
