The Disappearance Of Lawrence Joseph Bader
Lawrence Joseph Bader, alias John “Fritz” Johnson, was an American cookware salesman from Akron, Ohio, who vanished on March 15, 1957, while on a fishing vacation on Lake Erie.
Declared dead in 1960, Bader was resurrected five years later as John “Fritz” Johnson, an Omaha, Nebraska-based television personality. According to author Jay Robert Nash, the occurrence is “one of the most perplexing amnesia disappearances on record, a strange mystery that will never be resolved.”
Larry Bader appeared to have everything — a great job, a lovely wife, three children, and another on the way. However, looks were misleading, as Bader amassed a large debt that his salary could not pay.
On May 15, 1957, the 30-year-old kitchen appliance salesman and amateur archer from Akron, Ohio, embarked on a brief fishing excursion. He was never seen or heard from again, resulting in one of the most unusual disappearances.
Bader leased a boat that afternoon on the Rocky River in Cleveland and was warned about an impending storm. Bader appeared unconcerned about the deteriorating weather — around 4:30 p.m., and he pushed off in the rented motorboat.
