Background
Lisa Au was born on July 25th, 1962 to parents Chester Dennis Au and Patrice Mahiaikalani Akim Au-Kaunamano. Her father was Chinese and her mother was Hawai’ian.
Lisa had worked as a hairdresser. She was described by friends and family as; hardworking, kind, beautiful, and smart.
The Fateful Day
On January 20th, 1982, Lisa finished her shift at the hair salon she worked at in O’ahu. She told co-workers she was going to meet her boyfriend Doug at his sister’s apartment where they would all hang out. When Lisa was about to leave the salon, she realized there was a downpour of rain outside. She was scared to leave because she had just got her driver’s license and she was afraid to drive in the rain.
His sister lived in Makiki, which was far from where the salon was. On a normal day, it would take over an hour to get there.
Lisa finally decided to leave the salon and start driving to his sister’s house. When she got there she met up with her Doug, his sister, and his sister’s boyfriend. They seemed to have a good night together. Around 12 am she left her sister’s house. Doug and Lisa had arrived in separate…
