The Barricade Inn squat on Parnell Street in Dublin City Centre was evicted on Wednesday, 3rd February 2016. We visited the squat during its last days, after most of its inhabitats had moved out.

From the Facebook page of the Barricade Inn: “The Barricade Inn had its last court appearance last Wednesday January 20th. Unfortunately the judge granted the injunction which will come into effect next Wednesday February 3rd, when the court demands people vacate the building. Sadly the state has given the interests of property owners priority over an important project with great social value…”

In a previous statement on the eviction they stated: “We want more than just a roof above our heads, we want homes for everybody. We want an end to rent hikes and property speculation, and a truly free public space in the city for people to gather. We want a society based on freedom and solidarity, and will keep fighting for that no matter what.”
