The Crockett swim team, only three years since its origination, has begun to gain considerable recognition in AISD as they’ve brought home several gold medals for the school this year — the first in Crockett swim history.

Although their season is only about a month old, the Crockett swim team has gained two gold medals in the 50m and 200m freestyle during their first meet of the season, breaking a record for the team.

Senior, Evyenia Moumouris, winning the two gold medals for Crockett, placed first in the 50m freestyle with a 26.52 time as well as in the 200m freestyle in a solid 2 minutes and three seconds.

The swim team had eight relay teams, one of which placed fifth out of all in the swim meet.

The first meet of the season was held at the YMCA in Burnet, Texas. With twenty-five participants, this is the largest swim team the school has seen since its establishment three years ago.

The team, in its entirety, competed in all events, placing high in relation to the other ten teams, two of each were LASA and Dripping Springs.

“I feel confident in the fact that it will be a good season for the team as a whole, I’m confident in the relationships we have with one another and that it will set up great success for the team,” said freshman swimmer Maha Salami.

The team was determined and excited to take part in the competition, an attribute that was clearly evident in the results of their swims. The team was brought together by their motivation and support to accomplish their goals, within both the individual and team races.

Coach Quintana, the varsity swimming coach, and the team have contributed immensely towards the success of the races as they give full effort into every practice.

The team and coach stated that they have a positive outlook and an excellent start to the new swim season and have high expectations for themselves as they embark on their path to success this swim season.
