Due to COVID-19, people are unable to do or participate in many of the holiday traditions they usually do. But one thing you can do to make this holiday season feel festive is cooking and baking. So here are some easy, fast, and inexpensive things you can make for your family, or just for yourself!

  1. Peppermint bark: Simple & affordable!

Time: 15 minutes

Difficulty level: 2/5

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz dark chocolate
  • 8 oz premium white chocolate
  • 1/3 cup crushed candy cane pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

2. Flourless Oatmeal Chocolate-Chip Cookies: These cookies are a great gluten free option. It may require quite a few ingredients, but they are simple and quick to make!

Total cook & prep time: 20 minutes

Difficulty level: 3/5

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups old fashioned oats (gluten-free style if you are gluten-free)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1–1/2 teaspoons baking soda

3. Ham and Cheese Pot Pie: While pot pie sounds like it would be difficult and time-consuming, this recipe has a preparation time of only fifteen minutes, and a total time of forty-seven minutes. This pot pie is a great option for the main course, or a full meal.

Prep time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 47 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 ham steak
  • 1 c. KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 c. frozen broccoli cuts
  • 1 c. frozen cauliflower florets
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. PHILADELPHIA Chive & Onion 1/3 Less Fat than Cream Cheese1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
  • 1 ready-to-use refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp. water

4. Garlic Roasted Potatoes: Another easy side dish or appetizer you could make this winter! This recipe only calls for six ingredients, many of which you might already have at home. This makes for a great vegan side dish too!

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds small red or white potatoes
  • 1/4 cup good olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic (6 cloves)
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley

5. Extra Easy Lasagna: This recipe is great for you and your family! It only requires 5 ingredients (not counting water), and you don’t even have to cook the noodles! It can also easily be frozen and finished another time, so the larger serving size and amount isn’t a problem.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 4 cups tomato-basil pasta sauce
  • 6 uncooked lasagna noodles1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 2 ½ cups (10 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup hot water
