Throw a Virtual Party!

Even if we can’t physically be with friends and family right now, technology has made it so we can still stay connected. Using Zoom, Google Hangouts, or Facetime, get a group together for a Friday Girl’s Night In or a Sunday Dinner with the family. Remember: stay at home! Spend virtual time with your loved ones instead.

Practice Skincare and Selfcare

Now’s the time to treat yourself right!

No one cares what you look like in the comfort of your own home, so put down the straighteners and makeup brushes. Adjust your morning routine to include moisturizers instead of foundation, and your skin will appreciate it. :)

Pro tip: Shower regularly, too; just because you’re not going anywhere doesn’t mean you can stay in the same sweats for a week.

Take A Chill Pill

Add a few minutes of meditation or yoga to your daily routine to relieve stress and improve focus. Several free apps will walk you through breathing exercises and yoga routines, including Down Dog, the Calm app, and Headspace. During these unprecedented times, the news can be a bit scary. It is to stay informed, it is equally important to step back and limit your media intake.

Set Some Goals

Achievable goals are the key. Some great ideas include:

  1. Drink some water every time there’s an ad break on Hulu.
  2. Stretch every day after you get out of bed.
  3. Do some form of exercise, even if it’s merely dancing.
  4. Complete one solo-activity and one group activity a day.
  5. Take screen breaks once every half hour or when possible.

Learn Something New

This can be anything from a new tik tok cooking recipe, a new hairstyle, or picking up a new hobby. Whatever it is, find something you like and stick to it. But there is no competition or race, so take all the time you want to be creative and inventive.

Pro tip: Choose a hobby that’s a useful skill such as learning a new language, sewing, or ask your parents to practice some adulting skills. There are plenty of free resources out there for any skill of your choice!

Get Cooking!

Speaking of tik tok recipes now is a great time to eat more home-cooked meals. If you can, try to limit your take out orders to two a week and cook nutritious meals at home or make versions of your favorite restaurant meals.

Pro tip: Utilize the food you already have at home before making another trip to the grocery store. Also, take advantage of curbside delivery, and delivery services from Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and Trader Joes. If you must go into stores, be sure to wear your gloves and mask.
