Due to the current global pandemic, the federal government has issued a stay at home order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). If you are bored and have nothing to do, here are seven things you can do to make time go by faster.

Learn New Skills

Social isolation is the perfect opportunity to learn a practical skill or two with all the time we have at home.

-One thing you can do is learn to play an instrument like the guitar or piano. Any instrument lying around the house collecting dust can now serve a greater purpose. Check out this link to several skilled Youtube musicians for online tips; remember, practice makes perfect!

-Another thing you can do is learn a new language at home. Not only can this pass the time, but it can be a useful skill to use when applying for a job or when traveling (when we can again). Check out Duolingo or Rosetta Stone, available online, and most app stores.

-If you want to impress your friends, learn is how to solve a Rubik’s Cube! It may look complicated, but once you get the pattern down, it’s effortless. There are plenty of books you can order on amazon or watch a tutorial on Youtube. Whatever you do, don’t let the colorful box defeat you!

Arts and Crafts

Fuel your creative side by taking the time with your family (or by yourself) to make arts and crafts or delicious dishes in the kitchen.

-Learn how to paint or draw with everyday household items like pencil and paper or a basic paint palette. Follow a Bob Ross video on Netflix or Youtube or download tik tok for the trendiest drawing and painting tutorials. Honestly, you’ll probably spend more time watching than painting (they’re just so pleasing).

-Another thing you can do is start making more meals at home! Now’s the time to experiment and perfect some new recipes. Quarantine does not mean you have to change your eating habits or start a new diet, but it’s a great chance to try the meals you never had the time to make yourself. Get ready to wow your party guests at the first end-of-quarantine get together!

Board games & Other Activities

Get the family together for quality time and game night.

- Play board games such as Monopoly and Sorry or card games such as UNO, and blackjack. Puzzles and reading are also a great way to spend some time away from screens.

-Exercising indoors is also an excellent way to stay fit and to make time fly. Lifting weights, push-ups, and curl-ups, even doing yoga, is recommended.

-Watching a movie, you never finished or satisfying your nostalgia with a childhood movie is a great way to pass the time. Video games are also a fun activity, but you must manage your screen time and remember to take breaks.
