Another Domino
a reflection on inflection
Another domino fell today,
a click of ratcheting strain.
Established order will pass away
and despotism will reign.
The flowering of democracy
takes sanguine, arable soil.
Those blooms deadhead in plutocracy,
raw silicon, and crude oil.
Cry havoc, wolf, or the river Styx,
the dogs of war have now slipped.
We lit the fuses we thought were wicks,
and Clio’s writing the script.
The hindsight judgments of future days
will call the balls and the strikes,
but all stability soon decays;
plus plus the number of reichs.
Another domino fell today,
a click of ratcheting strain.
Established order will pass away
and despotism will reign.
