Bakery Attraction
A poem that would be thrilling if not for some drilling
Little slice of lemon pie
Tart and creamy, my my my!
How you’ve caught my hungry eye
Devour you? Oh, dare I try?
Just a nibble — just one bite!
Indulge myself? I just might
Sweet of tooth, but soft of gum
Left the dentist feeling numb
Though delicate, may be your crumb
Reason says, ‘twould be no fun…
Crumbles slip on drooling lip
Novocaine impedes that grip
My tongue tingles, my words slur
Dreams of creamy pie recur
Dare I order? Mouth a mess?
What will it be? No or yes?
Mumble maker — novocained
Humble baker’s patience waned
Closed her pie shop, she has just
Lust for crust, alas, a bust
Little slice of lemon pie
Tart and creamy, bye bye bye
You might be the best in town
But, my dear, I wear the crown
