You may know Amine for his breakout single, Caroline, but he is out to prove that he is way more than a one-hit wonder, with his new album Good For You.

Caroline took the internet by storm last year, and was heard at every college party as far as the eye can see. I must admit, it got really old. Which is why it’s so great that Amine is back with more.

Amine is a 23-year-old from Portland. He was actually an aspiring basketball player before he ever wanted to be a rapper, but obviously he thought wrong. The best fact I’ve found about Amine is that his first rapping experience was making diss tracks that attacked the high schools surrounding his.

You can tell the second that you hear a song that Amine is a guy that is just having fun, and that enhances the experience of listening to him. He is active on Twitter and is definitely worth a follow. At the very least, you will see this kind of thing on your timeline:

Obviously, there is some idea as to what music you’ll be hearing on the album if you’ve heard Caroline, but actually you’d be surprised how different the rest of the songs are.

Amine has lots of upbeat tunes on the project, like Wedding Crashers (feat. Offset), Yellow (feat. Nelly), and Slide. He also is a talented singer, channels his inner Chance the Rapper on songs like Sundays, and even emulates Frank Ocean on Turf.

Overall, a really solid debut album from the member of the XXL 2017 Freshman Class (a group that has not been acclaimed throughout Twitter culture).

Amine has proven that he doesn’t deserve to be lumped into that category with this album.

You can find some of his new songs on the Crossover Weekend playlist on Spotify.

8.5/10

  1. Yellow
  2. Slide
  3. Wedding Crashers
  4. Spice Girl
  5. Money
