Crowd DLT, Crowdpolicy’s blockchain solution for local authorities has been shortlisted in the context of European Commission’s Digital Innovation Challenge and we are currently looking forward to the upcoming co-creation Bootcamp. The event will take place on the 28th, 29th and 30th of September 2020. All candidates will pitch their ideas and work with coaches to refine their solutions. Lastly, the top three finalists will be invited to receive prizes at the award ceremony (1st 50 000€, 2nd 20 000€, 3rd 10 000€).

The Digital Innovation Challenge team recently published a post, regarding each of the ten shortlisted candidates, briefly presenting each company and our expectations from participating in the challenge. Regarding Crowdpolicy and Crowd DLT, our application to manage citizens’ applications and documents in a secure way through blockchain:

Crowdpolicy in a nutshell

Crowdpolicy is an SME founded in 2012, active in the field of IT and specialized in crowdsourcing methods and techniques within the fields of fintech, civictech and open innovation. We design, develop, implement and commercialize a consistent series of crowdsourcing methodologies, information systems and tools on a global basis, aiming to enhance two-way collaboration between organizations and the crowd, as a means of generating value for our customers and their stakeholders. Clientwise, our solutions are sought after by local authorities, ministries and other public sector organizations, banks and financial intermediaries, utility providers and other private companies.

Since 2019, our company has lent weight to EU funded programmes, in order to further collaborate with research organisations, NGOs and other SMEs to develop novel digital solutions and disseminate innovative actions through the European Union.

Why did you participate in the challenge?

Coming across the Digital Innovation Challenge, we immediately felt it was a perfect fit for our company and BDLT solution. We think big, creating digital solutions which can scale-up on an international level. We play smart, applying blockchain on already successful applications (CrowdApps), enhancing them with BDLT advantages (transparency, immutability, automated proof of ID), also creating new ones, adding value and providing useful data to public organizations and authorities. Playing smart includes taking full advantage of existing open solutions (eID, Blockchain, eSignature). We stand out, actualizing the first blockchain solution for local authorities in Greece. In terms of expected outcomes, the process could act as a crucial headstart in further developing our solution. The headstart will come in financial, networking and visibility terms.

On a wider assessment, the challenge will amplify our R&D actions to keep pushing Digital Transformation forward for business growth and common good, as we have been for the last seven years, based on private funds. Through the Digital Innovation Challenge, we anticipate to:

  • Gain access to additional funding and coaching in order to rapidly upgrade our solution and make it applicable throughout Europe
  • Become part of an active ecosystem within a sector of great opportunity and social impact
  • Gain visibility and further insight on blockchain (+other open solutions) use cases and needs
  • Receive constructive feedback on our solution, being evaluated by experts

This activity was shortlisted for the Digital Innovation Challenge from the European Union’s ‘Reuse of Digital Standards to Support the SME Sector’
