Boc Hackathon Fintech 3.0, Open Api Days in Nicosia and Limassol were successfully completed, on Wednesday 9th of October and Thursday 10th of October 2019. Boc Hackathon Fintech 3.0, is the third fintech marathon in Cyprus and will take place at 18th, 19th and 20th October 2019 at the IDEA Innovation Centre in Nicosia

During the Open Api Days, developers, students, startup members and executives from the public and private sectors, participated in an open discussion about innovation in fintech. Additionally, participants were informed about the upcoming hackathon’s scope and process, starting the countdown for the 3rd Application Development Marathon of Bank of Cyprus, Boc Hackathon Fintech 3.0.

Executives from Bank of Cyprus also attended the Open Api Days, showcasing the functionality of BocAPIs and the BocSDK platform, which will be available in order to support teams in developing fintech applications during the hackathon.

During the Open Api Days:

Dimitris Papallis, Manager IT Governance and Strategy of Bank of Cyprus, spoke about the Boc Hackathon Fintech 3.0 objectives, the Bank’s continuous effort to drive innovation in the fintech sector, as well as the next steps following the marathon, which will result in new collaboration opportunities with the Bank.

Christos Nicolaou, Head Systems Architecture Information Technology Services from the Digital Team of Bank of Cyprus, spoke about the development of BocAPIs and the BocSDK platform from the Bank, while delivering a live demo of their functionality and giving instructions to the participants on how to utilize them during the marathon

Ioannis Hadjihambis, Performance Analyst from the Digital Team of Bank of Cyprus, spoke about the opportunities that participants will have during the hackathon, how the Bank will actively support the teams during the process, as well as suggestions on how to use the BocAPIs and BocSDK in the applications that will be developed.

Christos Zacharopoulos, Digital Products Architecture and Services of Crowdpolicy, explained the overall process and technical specifications of Boc Hackathon Fintech 3.0 to the participants, spoke about innovation trends in the fintech sector and gave useful tips on how to approach application development during the 3-day hackathon.
