The 3rd biggest European fintech Hackathon was completed

The Infinitech hackathon was completed with great success on 26th & 27th of January 2023. The innovation hackathon event gave the opportunity to the participants to build their own assets and contribute to Infinitech’s Marketplace.

The aim of the Infinitech Hackathon was to create prototype applications and solutions through technology tools, innovative ideas and methodologies that can be applied to the campaign actions, daily life and operation of businesses.

During the two-day event, the teams developed innovative applications related to the following thematic areas:

  • Smart and Reliable Scoring, Risk and Service Assessment
  • Personalized Retail and Investment Banking Services
  • Predictive Financial Crime and Fraud Detection
  • Personalized Usage-Based Insurance
  • Configurable and Personalized Insurance Products for SMEs and Agro-Insurance

The Infinitech hackathon started on 26th of June with the Kick Off Meeting, where Mr. Theodoros Kotzastavros, Open Innovation Lead of Crowdpolicy, welcomed all participants marking the start of the competition and presented the process and strategic objectives.

Afterwards, the teams started to implement their idea, using new technologies in the field of fintech, a process that lasted throughout the two days. The whole process was supported by the event mentors with various professional, academics and research backgrounds.

On 27th of June, the teams presented their applications and answered the questions of mentors and members of the evaluation committee.

🥁 Finally, the committee evaluated the ideas and distinguished the three winning teams.

Mr. Dimitirs Karidis, Piraeus Vice-mayor of Planning and Sustainable Development made a small comment mentioning “Innovation & Youth Entrepreneurship are valuable not only for economic growth but also for the society to evolve and to create smart and sustainable cities” and gave the awards to the teams:

The team who won the first place and the 1st prize of €3.000, was JBM which presented Fraud-e is a tool that aims to predict if e-commerce orders are possible frauds.

The team who won the second place and the 2nd prize of €2.000 was mr Dogoulis & mr. Manousaridis with An ML-based model was trained in order to detect malicious loannes. This tool can be used by bank experts and help them to detect fraud in the use scenario where people request bank loans for vehicle purchase.

Spyros Chatziargyros with Aviato won the third place and the 3rd prize of €1.000 presenting the idea of a Platform for Anti Money Laundering Supervision (PAMLS) Analyzing Blockchain Transaction Graphs for Fraudulent Activities Real-time cyber security analytics on Financial Transactions’ BigData.
